IS IT WORTH FIXING?
Usually. And when it isn’t, I’ll tell you.
Most canvas and leather items fail in stages. The stitching wears out, the hardware breaks, or one high-stress area tears long before the rest of the material is finished. A cover, bag, cushion, seat or piece of gear that looks worn out may still have years of useful life left.
That leaves three honest answers, and you’ll get whichever one is true:
Repair it.
The material still has life. Re-stitch the seams, replace the zipper or hardware, reinforce weak spots and patch what’s torn. Usually the fastest and most affordable option.
Rebuild it.
The material is finished, but the original shape and fit are still worth saving. I can take the old piece apart, use it as a pattern and build a replacement that fits the way it should. This is often the best option for older, custom or hard-to-replace items.
Don’t.
Sometimes the material is too far gone, the structure underneath is damaged, or replacing the item would cost less than repairing it. I’ll tell you when that’s the case and, where possible, point you in the right direction.
I’d rather turn down a job than take your money for something that isn’t worth fixing. Most of the time, though, the answer is repair it or rebuild it.
WHAT IT COSTS
Most repairs fall between $75 and $300. Simple seam repairs, small patches and zipper replacements are usually at the lower end. Larger repairs, extensive re-stitching, custom panel replacement and rebuilding heavily damaged items will cost more.
I quote each job at a flat price before I begin. You’ll know what the repair costs upfront—no open-ended hourly estimates and no surprise bill when the work is finished.

2. I’ll let you know if it’s repairable and provide an estimate.
3. Drop off, or I'll pick up.
4. Once the repair is complete you pick up, or I’ll deliver to you.

I’m Tram Good, and I repair canvas, vinyl and leather from my shop in Fonthill.
I’ve been sewing since I was a teenager. Some jobs run through an industrial walking-foot machine, while others are stitched by hand—whatever creates the strongest repair.
I use quality thread and hardware because a repair that fails next season isn’t much of a repair. My goal is simple: make it strong, make it last, and make it look like it belongs.
Whether it’s something you rely on for work, recreation or everyday life, I believe it’s often worth repairing instead of replacing.
